Dental hygienists are key players in any oral health team. You’ll spend more time with your hygienist than your dentist during a typical appointment, and you’ll usually get to know each other pretty well.
Because of this, some people wonder if it’s possible to see the same dental hygienist every time they book a cleaning. We can’t speak to how other offices handle these requests, but here at Coscarella Dentistry, you’re welcome to book with the same hygienist each visit. However, there are two things you should think about before committing to that decision.
1. You’ll Need to Work Around Your Hygienist’s Schedule
Many of our hygienists don’t work a standard 9-to-5. Some work part-time, coming in for just a few days a week or a few hours at a time. They also take time off for things like vacations, parental leave, and bereavement leave.
If you really want to see a specific hygienist, you’ll need to choose an appointment slot that falls within their availability. That may mean choosing a time that’s less convenient for you (for example, a morning slot when you work the opening shift at your own job) or waiting longer for your appointment.
That might be a worthwhile trade-off for you, but some people prefer the extra booking flexibility. Try calling in to see when your hygienist of choice is currently scheduled. If you’re lucky, they’ll be available during the time slots you were interested in anyway.
